Painted, life-size fiberglass bear sculptures that have become a true landmark of Berlin and are unofficially called the ambassadors of Germany. They are often displayed with outstretched arms that symbolise friendliness and optimism. The very first bears were displayed at an artistic event in Berlin in 2001.
